IOW, at the time I wrote that response, 14.6.0 was the latest update available to all users of Office 2011. According to release notes, it's a trivial interim security update that has no bearing. Along with Word and PowerPoint, Excel also gets a new cut-down version, the Excel Web App, which you can access from any web browser, whether or not Excel is installed on the computer you're using.

But you can also manually download the updates: Open the Mac App Store from your Dock or Finder. Click Updates on the left side menu, then click Update All, or the Update button next to the apps that you want to update.My boss wants to use an Excel sheet with macros on their MacBook Pro with OS X.The Interface gets a refresh with a taller and translucent menu bar, floating dock, full height sidebars, changed app icons and new symbols. Once you get past the disorienting user interface changes, it's less compromised and more usable. The omission of a few features already seen in Excel 2010 for Windows, however, is an all too familiar annoyance. VerdictThe return of Visual Basic, the Ribbon interface and new collaboration features will make many users look again at Excel on the Mac. Just like Windows, it’s best to wait a few weeks or months after the first release of a major operating system update.There’s sure to be a Big Sur 11.1 or 11.2 with plenty of fixes and tweaks.In the meantime, your Mac and Office continue to work nicely.
